I'm planning on teaching my 14yo daughter to kite at Jones Beach some time next month. Anyone know how easy it is to launch a jetski from the beach there? Is the sand firm enough to not get stuck? Or is there a legit boat launch nearby? I'm stoked to get her more water time but would like a ski there as backup if possible. Thanks for any tips.

if you have a truck with 4x4 should be no problem. I dunno about a boat launch, im sure there is one somewhere. But we're all out there with big trucks too, so if you dig in (which i doubt) you'll be able to get a pull easy

John and I both have launched our waverunners there many times. Just need to have a decent 4X4. The east end of the low flat beach area where most the kiters launch and land seems to be the best spot to get the waverunner into the water.

PROKITE van could not launch ski at jones, but 4x4 could, esp with wide and or very soft tires. there is no legit ramp, only one perfect one right next to jones beach that might earn you a tailgate (or worse) full of shotgun holes, unfortunately. tried communicating with property owner last year, didnt go well, wouldnt recommend trying ... they dont take kindly to strangers on planet jones (or their own neighbors either, i got an earful or crazy feud talk)

There is a ramp at the town right before jones. We launched with our subie on the way out it was easy water was low enough getting it back on the car and out was super tough almost got stuck. If you have a truck you'd probably be ok

We launch with our old Acura MDX SUV. Tires are just regular size. Have probably launched at Jones at least 10 times without any issues. It is just a single 3 seat wave runner. I suppose there is always a potential to get stuck - but I haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood)..............
