I slept in a tent back in April there at the county park where the launch is. The camp hosts generally do not want tents there, and only allowed my 2 nights because it was low season. If you have an RV you're in great for under $20. There are plenty of hotels of all levels about 9 miles away in Rio Vista, also plenty of everything across a stupid $5 toll brige in Antioch. You can also stay on Sherman, near a launch at this privately owned RV park:

Ouch! $40 per night!?!

For the full Sherman experience, car camping in the parking lot is a MUST! Ever night kited? The wind blows all night there! The lot is fairly protected down low, but you can put a trainer up and kite skate around. One night I parked the camper in the grassy field outside the parking lot near the outhouses to save a few bucks...too buggy.

Yes, If you can sleep in your car I'm guessing the camp hosts are fine. The gripe they had about my tent was that on occasion the county supervisor guy comes through and enforces the "no tent" rule. They close the gates 10PM to 6AM.
First time I ever ate wild asparagas... growing all over that place in April.
But, A 50+ mph devil El Norte exploded my crappy old tent at 1AM and I slept in the outhouse. Not a good night.

Did you mean camp. Like the others said, the place to stay is in the parking area. There is a lawn area away, out of site, from the parking area where you can pitch a tent, which would get around the no tent policy,

I was there for about two months. Great sailing, nice people. They say it gets even better in June and July.

Agreed. If you stay any where outside the gate (let me know if you need the combo, it is not a big secret) you miss the whole vibe which makes Sherman such a special place. Car camping is de rigueur. You can bring a tent and set it up away from the lot. Just make sure you pick your spot carefully as a friend was flooded out at high tide in the middle of the night. Bring a bottle of Tequila and make many new friends Thumb's Up
