I'm a curious guy, so I took a thermometer down to the Wonderbar today. 100 yards downstream of where the White salmon meets the columbia, 20 yards out the temp was 48 degrees. I imagine the Hood is about the same. _________________ moondog |

Thanks for posting this as a reminder of how prepared and how safe we need to be BEFORE we leave the sunny, warm, dry shores in the ensuing weeks (not this week ) |

I'm guessing that the temp of the Hood River, let's say at the footbridge just above the river mouth is 5 -7 degrees cooler than the convergent zone of the Hood river and the Columbia--making it a walnut sack cold 42 degrees. Can't say it enough, dress for the swim, not the ride. If one is too hot, they can always take a break in the cool water.

Looks like Arlington/rosey is the place for wind and sun today. |

The only difference is that the Hood River will actually warm up later in the season. The White Salmon will actually get colder as the ratio of runoff decreases versus the ratio of spring water. Good thing the Columbia will be 70 degrees when that happens... unless you are a salmon. _________________ Misinformed |

				| It's called snow melt. People are in fricken denial. It has not really began yet. Rivers everywhere are below average with not much flow. Been waiting for run off to do some creek in but no luck yet. It's not July yet. Still may?? |
