Mon Mar 11, 13 5:51 am OT: Cabo to La Paz ride needed and Rookie to Baja Q's!! |
|
|
Hello everyone,
Anybody going to Cabo, then La Ventana soon? Hoping that somebody has recently ridden the bus from Airport to San Antonio and may share advice, do's and don'ts.
I'm just looking to see if anybody has recently been and might provide their info.
Oh yea, I'm taking my 8, 10, and 12 RPM(best kites ever) with me just in case it's windy.
I've got an interview for a job that will require me to teach windsurfing, kiteboarding and Sup'n. The perfect summer job! Wish me luck _________________ Hey, I'm being hahahahahrassed! |

I heard La Ventana is 115 degrees with no wind in the summer. Are you sure you're not applying for a spear fishing job?
Drove through San Antonio in Feb... small blip of a town - just keep your eyes peeled for the turn-off. My wife almost had an aneurysm when I thought I was lost for a few minutes... hehe. Definitely some sort of bus route as we got stuck behind one on the crazy road. Probably connecting Cabo->Los Barillos->San Antonio->Los Planes |

Yea, I've heard it sucks too, but I'm gonna risk it. You know how when you go somewhere for the first time you try to avoid the obvious pitfalls of a tourist trap area. Mexico is great and I've been to the border towns back in the 80's and 90's, but oh how times have changed.
I hope your wife feels better. I had a wife, twice.
Cheers,

The job is actually in Belmont Shores, LA. for the summer. If I get it I'm gonna be flying some big kites for sure. I'm a little worried about that, but I figure the change of pace and living in LA for the summer might be fun. I know that I'll have moments where I'm looking at Iwindsurf imagining what Doug's is blowing sitting in the hot sun in LA. That's when I'll grab a SUP and go catch a 2 foot wave, :0).
I'm only gonna be in La Ventana for a week or so. Are your kids gonna be there? Maybe Grom wouldn't mind showing me around a bit?
I'm excited for sure. After years of kiting in Oregon with a trip or 3 to Hi. I'm ready for a cool summer job in the Kiting Industry. I've tried really hard to make it work in The Gorge but it's just difficult due to the short season and the limited market opportunity.
This job will allow me to get a little credibility, lol, I knead that fo show!
Best is lucky to have you guys!

Grom, Rachel, Shannon and Sarah should still be there for a few more weeks. Stop by the bar at Baja Joe's and you should be able to find them.
Belmont Shore might be a good gig. More wind in the spring than the summer but the scenery is nice all year long. If you can swing it find a place to stay in Belmont, Belmont Shores, Naples, Seal Beach or Sunset. Get a beach cruiser and take advantage of the shoreline bike paths. Belmont Brewing is a nice place right down by the pier.
If you really get stuck for finding an affordable place to live an unknown gem is the city of Los Alamitos off the 405 & 605 freeways. Only about 15 to 20 minutes from there down to 2nd Street.
We'll probably be passing through the area the first or second week of June. Maybe see you in Belmont.
