Is anyone interested in snowkiting on Mt Rainier sometime in April?
Im planning on taking my rig to the Coast and doing some skiing at Crystal Mtn, then giving it a good go when theres a nice window...
Obviously this is a demanding mission that you should be ready for and have good backcountry knowledge...
Whos out there? Any information is appreciated!

| The sledneck ranger up on Mt. Adams told me snowkiting in wilderness is now a no no as of very recently. Would love for that to be proven incorrect and will not impact my plans, asking forgiveness seems likely to get the desired results at this point. Nothing he can do on reservation lands anyway, pretty much anything above tree line on Ranier is wilderness... |

I was going to post a sarcastic comment, bunch of them really. But as my grandmother said: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it."
Those of us who have explored the front and backcountry by kite have learned when to blow our horns and when to keep it quiet. The Bend crew learned this the hard way.
As a avid snowkiter, I dread the day when the Feds ban kiting on all Federal land. Extreme view, will never happen, right? Well kiting is an air sport and has been banned in Teton and Yellowstone Parks. Wilderness areas, too. What's next? |

Oh thats good news. I could have scared some elk or endangered myself.
Snowkiting is detrimental to the environment, good job its been banned for everyone. Those rangers do a great job out there tearing up the mountains on snowmachines.
Reminds me of when I lived in the UK and kite buggying bans slowly got enforced on every little bit of beach and blade of grass.
Well OK! Anyone got any other bright ideas or do I actually have to go to Alaska before its banned up there too? Or before they build powerlines and infrastructure all over the passes?
Theres gotta be some accessible spots in the cascades... wheres the Washington crew snowkting? Im still thinking about skiing Crystal for a bit since I have a pass...
