The Camas spot is just on the west side of town where 14 crosses the river mouth there. The Washougal spot I haven't been to, but there was a thread about it last year. I was hoping one of those guys would be intereseted. If not, there is a park with a very short hike in with lots of sand beach. That would probably be perfect for the launch spot anyway. It's just west of the first Island upriver from the Camas boat launch.

Technicaly, i think Kiteboarding is would probably be considered against FAA regulations within 5 miles of a tower controlled airport. As long as the tower controllers don't see it as a problem we'll most likely be left alone. But definately don't go for big air. If a controller saw a Kiteboarder jumping there could be big time access issues.
Also be aware of wake turbulance from heavy jets. Wake turbulance moves outward and downward from the flight path at about 5 knots. If the component of wind out of the north exceeds 5 knots, that should keep the vortex off of the river.
I'm going to see what the conditions are in the morning, but a downwinder sounds fun. There is a lot of shallow, protected, water on the Oregon side through there; could be epic! I'll post again in the morning about 9, 9:30.

hey brucey... i think i was there right after you. Were you on the 7m slingshot? We chatted a bit and I was rigging up a 9m just as you were leaving, since you suggested a 10m.
It was pretty good for the next 2hrs... seemed to be getting even better as I left at 5:00pm.

Hey Brucey, I wasn't trying to be a smart ass or anything, just what we always said in the military. Easier to plead ignorance and all. Anyway, the forcest is showing the winds dropping off in the afternoon. I thought I'd check the updated forecast in the morning. That whole area could be a great downwinder, I don't think it's ever been ridden before.

I also launched at Salty's for the first time yesterday afternoon at around 4:30 PM.....Epic.
I arrived with only 2 kites in my quiver. A 7 meter LF prototype, and a new 20 meter.
I ended up on the twitchy 7 meter, and rode until 6:45......PERFECT..... I think the only way it could have been better if I was sheeted in on a 10.

Looks like the Portland Airport is dead, W @ 4... Troutdale is E @23 G 32. The Washougal - Camas might be doable. Anyone up this morning? Rico, Are you still online?

Man that spot is so great for taking photos with Mt Hood in the background.
Such a beautiful day, bummed I missed the east wind action this weekend (instead spent it in airports.) Hopefully Delta gets our gear bags back to Nate and I soon so we can get back out there.
