Fri Jun 22, 12 3:02 pm cabrinha bar with switch kites? |
|
|
Does anyone have thoughts on running a 2012 Cabrinha bar and lines with a Switch kite? I'm primarily concerned with the safety release (kite flagging out properly), but would also like to know about performance issues.
Thanx |

when i got mine they didn't have the switch bars in stock. So until i got the bar i flew on my best bar a couple times and my slingshot bar a couple times. Not cabrinha i know, but it worked fine. The switch bar is pretty sweet though, get one if you can.
caveat..................if you're a new guy probably get someone with some experience to check it out for you in advance
Also, the forum on their website is pretty active. Good idea to probably ask there too. |

Appreciate the reponse. Seems logical to buy bar/ kite setup , but was hoping to save a few hundred for now. From what I can tell the middle lines split further up (3 or 4 meters) on the cabrinha bar. Could this possibly change the geometry of the kite in a significant way? |

if the Cab bar split is 3 or 4 meters closer to the kite and that is the only difference, as in they both release to the 2 front lines and not just a single front line the release should work fine. The only change you MIGHT feel in flying the kite is that with the split closer to the kite the front lines will be effectively slightly shorter compared to the back lines but not much. I would try it and if it feels comfortable just ride it. If it feels like it should have a bit more power than you have, shorten the back lines a bit, like and inch and see if it improves it or not.Or you can attach the front lines to the pigtail one knot further from the kite. Otherwise should be fine.
having said all that, IMO the Cab bar is one of the bars set-ups i like least of any i have tried. Let us know what you do and how it works. |
