Great opportunity. I hope you are successful. What are the rules around boater education cards that are now required in Oregon?

Maybe. From what my search shows prices for their extended use are higher than everyone else and I just got back from caribbean vacation where prices were 40% less. If people are willing to pay that more power to you brother, just not me.

There are many a kite surfer who has been rescued by a jet ski in the gorge.
Definitely think the renters need more than the usual safety talk before they head out.
HISTORICAL FACT: Years ago PKE (Pre-Kite-Era) the city attempted to set up safety jet ski. The ski was purchased and volunteers were requested to man the craft. Of course no windsurfer would be willing to spend their weekend sitting on a floating lawn mower. At the start up meeting it was a bunch of Hood locals who did not windsport who showed up. They just wanted to tear around on a jet ski for free!!
OUT COME: A local guy was tearing through the Event Site and actually ran over Gorge legend Ronda Smith while she was in a race. Yea, the safety jet ski ran over a windsurfer!! That was the end of the safety jet ski program..

Renters are exempt under current rules.

That makes perfect sense.

Great concept indeed! $70 isn't bad compared to Portland rental rates of $80/hour. Difference is that Gorge Adventure Rentals in Hood River is misleading in that they neglect to state it DOESN'T include gas until they charge you afterward. For 1 hour, I was charged an addl $18 for fuel. Portland charges $80/hour but INCLUDES fuel.

Hey Bobbi,
Thanks again for coming out looked like your mom and daughter had a blast!! truly sorry you felt misled with the fuel charge. It says in bold print on our rental contract that fuel is not included.
Yamaha rates the fuel consumption on these skis at up to 7gph at wide open throttle.
Most clients are between 3-5 gallons at current boat gas price. (higher than pump)
If your a kiter this works out in your favor because if you idling around giving a lesson you wouldn't burn as much as someone out having fun. So rather than charge everyone more I charge based upon usage. Makes sense right?
Sorry I haven't been on here to answer your questions but summer has been super busy!!
Thanks
Hank
