Anyone planning a trip to PSC this spring?
I'm thinking first 2 weeks of May. I'm flexible.
Drive down from Hood River and camp on the point.

I'm going in March, but just be sure to bring your smallest kite, the spring is nuclear down there.

It's not for the faint of heart. It was voted one of the seven most deadly places to kite by Kiteboarding Magazine. With the side-off winds, and nothing to catch you downwind, it's no wonder. The launch can be pretty sketchy too. There are no facilities for many hours of driving, including any sort of medical attention. It's a long drive on a dirt road, and many people are still freaked out to even go to Mexico.

But, I've been going there for 28 years, so I have a hard time not going. Some say I'm a fool. Shocked

Offshore but endless down the line riding. Unfortunately, it rarely gets over head and the wave is a bit fat, not really critical unless you ride it all the way to the chili bowl!!!

If you have not been you should go. If you dont like the long drive, no facilities etc etc. look up Solo sports and book a trip with them.

The place is magic for sure Exclamation Twisted Evil

One of coldest trips I've ever taken; I never could get warm and that was in May!

watch out for the coyotes, they'll steal all your water;

then the dang pack rats come out at night and get into your food............

GeneK, Geno, Gabe and I did ten days first week of April a while back. We had a blast but it was a logistical nightmare. If you're flying into the Campo then go for it, it will be awesome.

Ha, and you didn't even have to drive all the shit down for everyone.

I honestly wouldn't bother with Solo Sports since for the cost you could go to any number of other destinations that are warmer with more critical waves. If you want the experience and like long mellow waves then it's def an adventure. Can be great if you're learning strapless for example. Make sure to bring secure shelter that can withstand 40mph winds for extended periods of time as you camp right on top of the bluff and be prepared to set this shelter up in said 40mph winds.

Hey I would be interested in a carpool down. Let me know if you want to go sooner than March, I would like to go in a week or so.

I've seen the rusty old sign for Pt San Carlos from Hwy 1 heading south in the Baja. Is it absolutely 4X4 only down that road to the point?

No, it's makeable in just about any vehicle, but high ground clearance helps in a few spots. My buddy made it in his minivan last trip.
