The fiance might be getting a job offer in two days in Idaho at Idaho Falls so I have questions.

My first and most important question is: Is there any water kiting near there? (priorities i know Very Happy)
I know there is LOTS of snowkiting around the area but water kiting is my favorite. I see the Snake river runs through town and there are a handful of lakes near by, but looking to see if anyone has rode around there or has some info on the location.

Second, how is the town itself? I hear it's the 4th largest town in Idaho, is it any cool?

Any thing else about the area would be cool to know.

Thanks in advance.

Its not a bad place. Get in with the ranchers for potentially epic pow kiting. From Idaho Falls to Victor on the 26 to Swan Valley is rolling farmland and valleys. I can't imagine it not being good somewhere. Its a couple of hours to Tarhee and Jackson and the valley is beautiful all over in the summer. Good Luck!

Fear not. There is really good kiting close by. American Falls reservoir is pretty good. Mud Lake is actually a clear blue lake with a sandy bottom that windsurfers have been riding since the 80's. These will be your go to spots. You can always hookup with the Jackson Hole Crew. In the summer you can ride several days a week as it is always windy somewhere!

It is freaking windy there all the time! You'll see.

The town is okay. Very religious. Makes for great shopping on Sundays if the stores are open.

American falls and mud lake will do just fine for kiting. I have wondered about ririe reservoir? There are man made lakes/reservoirs dotted all around. Lots of exploration for you.

You could do a lot worse. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. You guys really stepped up. Best Forum Ever? possibly.
She finds out today or tomorrow if she got it and how much the pay/benifits are. It looks like I won't be "stranded" without my kiting.

Hey Skikiteski, those are some sweet pics. Do you, or anyone, know what the average size kites are. Are we talking 9/12/14M conditions? And what's the "good" season?

Thanks everyone and if you got anymore info, I'd appreciate it.

It seems that we usually fly 9 or 13 meter kites. Mud lake and american falls are the most obvious but like you said there are many more. Just about anything in the snake river plain gets good wind. Its windy all the time. I bet you will get more kiting than just about anyone depends on work schedule. Seriously we easily kite over 200 days a year! Snow and water. Getting good on snow and water will take your kiting to new levels!
