Buddy just saw a promo for it... I haven't seen it yet and it doesn't look like its up on their site:

http://dhd.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=66.16723.131089.40471.1

Is this the show where they were shooting kiteboarding footage in the NW last year?

Looking forward to the Discovery piece, but have you seen Jimmy the hood river kite instructor on Alaska Gold rush? Kind of weird and so soap opera, but just I got to watch.

I assume a person has to be a subscriber to HD Discovery to view. I need to visit my non-kite neighbor.

Yes, Jimmy "Dorsey" is one the six.
He had a huge beard in the show.
Pretty cool to see him on Discovery.
Not sure how it is going to turn out.

Thanks for all that made it to Macadams Catchn Air. More Beer than I have drank in awhile. Got caught up with mosts winter plans, I've got to find warm water!
The show had some great go pro shots, gorgeous water, good rock and roll, odd boat launching, bad bush jumping, and they threw in some sharks for drama. All in all not totally riveting but will watch again to hear what I missed do to the sound system and party atmosphere .
Thanks again to all for a simple fun night out.

Chooch, Holly, and myself had to turn it off it was so gay. "we are going to try and jump at the same time, as close as we can get to each other".

WOW

But you missed the best part, one of dudes was riding just upwind of some mango trees, got his line stuck on a branch, looped his kite and sucked him through 15' of mango shrubbery. He got lit up worse than a donut at fat camp.

Nothing permanent, just his pride for being a kook on public tv Wink

Dood, my wife and I tried to watch it and were laughing at the same thing. Surely the TV guys pushed them into that.

In any case, that downwinder looked pretty fun, except that they were on 14s

I'd like to see this series succeed, but it's obvious they need to get rid of the "kookiness factor". I understand their dilemma, they want to show beautiful places like the Keys, but they need some danger to thrill the audience. The only danger they're going to find in the keys on a bluebird day is the kind they create themselves.

Maybe if they started the show in a gorgeous locale showing the laid back side to kiteboarding. Second half show some place like Rooster on a nuclear day in the winter?

I gotta say I've got all kinds of respect for the guy in the show who lost part of his leg. It's not easy taking that kind of loss and still push it like he's done. Yeah, he did something pretty kooky in the show, but my guess is it's what the producers demanded of him. Hopefully the producers figure out there's all kinds of ballsy things to do in this sport without having to be a kook. Shit, they should just follow Gman around for a week. I think that would be adventure enough for any audience! Smile

hahaha!!! yes.

I was hoping for some of the back story of kiting: how it got started, development over the years with pics of the old kites, show some old skol 2 line carnage... stuff like that. Twisted Evil

and mad props to the guy riding with one leg. My dad lost his leg when he was 19, so I have the utmost respect for people who choose to persevere. well done in my book.

Well, let's see how this Thursday's episode goes.

I have not checked the tv listings, but the producers just sent me a note letting me know that the Hood River episode will be showing this Thursday.
They used our shop for local beta, interviews and candid segments, then did a few runs out east to Roosevelt and Rufus (up to the Wall and back).

It would be great if the series succeeded, as it does provide a lot of exposure, whether it is legit or not. The riders are solid. Andy Hurdman and Sean Reyngoudt are good riders and even better people.

Let's give this series a couple more sessions to see if it's a make or break situation.

BTW - Anyone know how we could view or record this Thursdays episode?

Thanks
Pepi
