Randy French UFO TL2:

http://www.backcountryoutlet.com/outlet/SFC0033/Surftech-UFO-TL2-Surfboard.html

http://beckersurf.com/surftech/102383

sick board for head high to the smallest ocean swell (there are better boards for river swell) - a little stiff beating upwind in the chop but once on any kind of wave - super fast and fun - does really connect the flattest sections and super stable and smooth racing ground swell to out run those pesky predators

I got a 5'10 - will replace my 5'5 SRT until it gets nukin or head and half

paid around $350 search for coupons

I should hook you up with some thin grippy strapless pads for that.

Cool

- I do like wax - I'm always in booties in the ocean or sneaks in the river - seems to stick fine - definitely could use a tailpad - something about slowing down and waxing the board before each sess is part of the ceremony and has some transcendent affect

and Pepi 2nd wind sells great cheap board bags that keep the board from getting dinged and the wax all over the place Thumb's Up

Randy French? I think he designed all those old Seatrend windsurf boards I used to buckle the crap out of year after year! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Looks like a sweet ride G.

Did you get some good ones with it yesterday? Sure was hard to leave!

I see the board comes with FCS fin system. Are those fins holding up against shearing off as well as the Future fins? With only 2 small hold in points on the FCS verses the total base anchorage of the Futures, they may be more susceptable to shearing off on jumps or tagging the sand on inside transistions.

What are riders encountering out there when comparing the two types?

I find NSI is great for those. Just pop in and grab a sheet from them and cut it to fit.

+1 for NSI. I asked them to bring in some of the diamond pattern that was sanded thinner for use on the 'pro' series Surf Pad System pads. white, light, costs more than wax. I use a single layer (not laminated) of that on my board plus some of the Clear Grip stuff. pictar on losethestraps. I go bare foot always. You'll have to ask for my minimalist strapless pad at NSI. It's not in the catalog.

I guess what I like about the FCS is when they do break off, they are cheap and easy to find and replace....where as other, stronger, more propriatary model will take the whole back of your board with them when the go...

Does that clear grip stuff actually work well enough to take the place of pads and wax?

I've had the 6'2" for a month and it is great out on the waves. I've been riding it strapless to determine strap placement but can't bring myself to slap 'em on! It is too sweet.

TL2 is very tough but also has glass board characteristics that Tufflite didn't have.

I'm sold!!

Must of been channeling the Barfly

- was thinking the Slingshot 2006 5'5 SRT wouldn't last forever (fucker is indestructable and sick on high performance waves or super powered days) - but time for a floatier, lighter wind, smaller wave board - surprised how fun it is in head high surf

- also have a traditional fiberglass 6'2 Byrne board superfun but delicate, usually take a chunk out it with my harness hook each sess

- and 6'4' epoxy shuler board, thought i learn to surf on this (delusional) and a bit overkill for my weight on the kite
