Nice video.

How early did you have to get up to film that?

I haven't seen the sandbar so deserted in years.

Yes. It's called the Liquid Force Comp Lace kit and has been available for 2 years... in stock right now at 2nd Wind and Gorge Performance.

Wait? Did I say that out loud??

Well, I guess if everyone else in the kite industry decided to copy the LF system, Slingshot shouldn't miss out...

In fact, we were just commenting today on how Slingshot did the best job of anyone so far at not only replicating the functionality of the comp lace strap but also the bold clean look of the white/grey LF pads.

Definitely says something about the innovations in kiteboarding and where they are coming from, when a top company like Slingshot looks to Liquid Force not only for functional design but for the look and color styling as well.

If you look under the feet of the top riders in the world, including 5x World Champ Aaron Hadlow.. you'll see they have been choosing LF pads for years.

Slingshot has made some improvements on the pads and straps.

Remember the first time out of the box and it was pain in the butt to bolt them on??

http://www.vimeo.com/6002192

It uses a pin to secure the straps onto the pads instead of screws through the straps, pads then bolt onto the board.

The new pads and straps will come pre-installed, so you don't even need to put the pin in yourself.

For traveling, it is the easiest thing ever. All you do is to take those 8 screws out. No more messing with the straps and pads every time you install them on the board.

P.S. Aaron uses Mystic pads now

tekko, I would love to buy that LF Comp but I'm a broke ass MOFO, anyway 165 for strap/ pad syatem is crazy. I'm hopeing the SS system is 100 bucks.
I agree, it's a total rip off of LF, I wonder if LF sold them the rights to copy it.

I've had a few pairs of LF straps and I love them. Have had some quality problems with the bases cracking, but LF always took care of me with warrantees. Still, I'm getting pretty tired of swapping out other manufacturer's hard pads so I can put on soft absorbing LF pads that stay on your feet! ...and paying a premium for them.

I'm glad more companies are going to softer pads and I like the design innovation on the SS. It looks tons like the LF pad, but so do 80% of the one pump systems out there look exactly like Slingshot's. If it really is a patent infringement, LF can choose to chase after companies just like SS may have for the one pump.

In either case, the pads look great and I think it is is good that companies share good ideas that work. (whether that sharing is authorized or not, they all learn from each other.)
