Going to be in Pacific City this weekend, and I'm wondering where people typically kite there. Seems like the main beach area gets crowded with surfers, dory boats, etc, and that giant dune & cliffs could create a wind shadow.

Does anyone have any tips or info?

Thanks.

When I windsurf there I set up at the end of the bridge turn around not up at Cape Kiwanda. You can park and its a short hike over the dune. The wind is filled in and much less of a crowd. If you have a 4x4 however go up to the Cape and drive south on the beach to the stop driving sign and you should be out of the way of most.

Just got back from kiting Netarts Bay.
That place was sick!
They were having some Airush thing down there this week.
Hooking people up with demos.
(one of the first times I stuck out flying a slingy)
Just a little bit north of PC, worth checking out, especially if you're driving through Tillamook.

The place was cool!
Butter on the inside in the bay/sandbar area and waves on the outside.
One stop shopping!
I'll post the few pics I got later.

What part of the bay did you launch from?

yah, no further north than the south sign from the main launch... wind is too sketchy north of it...also, please try to stay away from the surfers...trying to keep it all friendly there...lots of beginners surfing..... best bet is to drive over the due at the turnaround (just go straight once you cross the bridge) and park there... even better, take 2 trucks over, drop one off down south by the river, then drive back up and downwind to it...

there are a couple of rips, but they are pretty easy to see...look for weird things going on with the water near shore.... one is just north of the turnaround...

have fun, wish i was there. Sad

Do not drive over the turn around dune unless you have a big 4x4 and no how to drive in sand(the drive back out is much harder than the one in and the beach is closed to cars north) I always launch at the no cars sign south of the brew pub and take out at the turn around or bob straub. I will be their on saturday afternoon call me if you want to ride Tracy 541 980 3654

I paraglide on the north side of the dune quite a bit, and I've encountered quite a few motherless seal pups on that side of the cape over the years.... if you know what I mean.

I've heard that if you wear polarized sun glasses, you can actually see the big fishies stalking around down below. I'm not sure I'd want to! Shocked

You launch right near the north end of the bay.
There's a little parking lot at the end of happy camp road.

Hey Stringer -
Good to meet you down there. (nice riding btw)

That looks like a 09-DNA Kite...

Water temp was amazzzingly warm; 4/3 worked fine.

John
