I've always enjoyed camping among the trees at Barview Jetty park just north of Garibaldi. It works well for downwinders from the beach just south of the Nehalem Bay jetty. (I believe the launch beach is called 'Manhattan Beach.') Check a map though. The beauty of Barview is that you can easily walk from the beach to the campground, not to mention decent showers and a nicely forested camping area.
If you're truly ambitious (and downwinding with a crew), you can launch at Manzanita and downwind past the Nehalem Bay bar and on to Barview Jetty Park where your support crew will have beer and bbq waiting after your 11 miles of bliss.
Link. Scroll down to 'Barview Jetty County Campground/Park' once at:

Hey man sorry you were having a hard time hitching back up the Sunset strip.
Tami told me tourists were giving you dirty looks.
Believe it or not that was a really crowded beach day (and still not too crowded) ---------and usually it's only locals driving the strip during the week.
The locals will generally give you a ride.....unless they are in some jacked up penis lift kit truck "posing down the modeling runway" at 45 mph. LOL
Hope you had fun....I loved it....it was a great day for your first time out there. |
