Yep I saw the guy and took some pics too. This guy set off the kook alarm the minute I heard him dragging his board. I actually ran back to my rig and picked up my camera to record this once in lifetime opportunity.

This is some funny stuff!!! Check out the people to the left gawking at this guy as he walks to the spit. He was actually causing some folks to stop and just look.

I wish I had that vest yesterday when I swam in from far out after my bulky safe chicken loop deployed automatically... I need to ditch that POS.

big waves and shitty gear designs are no good.

his two liner is simple and safe Laughing if it wasn't so old

I think he is pulling everyone's leg. If you look carefully, he is saying the greatest challenge to learning kiting anymore, with the new rider comfort kite designs and proven safe kite launching locations, is conforming to current kiter attire. The second greatest challenge is avoiding other kiters at crowded sites.

Or he's demonstrating what its like to kite at a place where you kite alone, and there are not hundreds of other kiters and windsurfers capable of helping retrieve a board if you loose it, (or onshore waves don't push it in for you, or the water is only 2' or 3' deep and you can walk back to it, or the water isn't 33 degrees just before or after the lake freezes), and the winds are so gusty at dicey wind shadowed launches, that one needs both hands on the bar at all times while self-launching, until one is 100 yards out into the water.

If he is not kidding you, it won't take too long for him to realize he should buy new kites. However, he should demo many kites, and in the process, break old over-steering and depowering habits, and re-adjust to each unfamiliar characteristic of each demo, until he purchases one and finally gets a chance to get intimately familiar with it.

OK, give me hell for my frankness and defensiveness. That's not me in the picture, by the way. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

When something is difficult to learn, places aren't so crowded. Take tennis courts, for instance.
