I am 90% sure that the Rufus Rockpile Rodeo is going to have to wait until next year. The coast is going to be a good bet........so, I am thinking about a NWKite coastal invasion. I will make the final decision this evening in order to give you all enough time to make plans.
Another factor is where on the coast do we go to. TROLL, Tony, Slither please chime in.

Sadly, I have family obligations in town this weekend but...

Manzo has been locked in the "on" position! The waves were a blast on Sunday and Josh said they were even better yesterday! JW and Irv may be able to confirm.

The Northerrn strip has been doing it's usual guessing games but came through yesterday - with the Clatsop sensor down it's been harder to make the call.

I would say for a planned event and a day trip, you gotta go with Manzo. Blows earlier, harder and more reliable. Downwinders to the park are a hoot. Or take it all, and go all the way to Rockaway and catch the bus back! Shocked

Due to the crappy forecast the Rufus Rockpile Rodeo is canceled.

The good part is we are going to rally for the coast. I am hoping for some downwinders on the North Coast.

The Plan: Meet at the SummerHouse in Seaside, figure out the wind, go kiting. Picnic, then camp somewhere. Hopefully we can find a camp spot that will accommodate us.

SORRY for those who have to drive further, but we have to work with what mother nature gives us.

Check in here Friday night for more details.

Steve,
Is the town of Rufus still planning on a fireworks display on the 28th or will they move it to another date?
Thanks,
Kurt

Kurt,
As far as I know the town of Rufus will still be lighting the fireworks Saturday night.
When I was first putting together the Rockpile Rodeo plans the town seemed to have their s--t together. After several conversations with my Rufus contacts, I have lost a lot of faith in the town's event planners.
Hopefully the can get back on track for next year. I would like to see them come through with their promises.
Meanwhile, we are going to rock the coast this weekend.

JW, give me a call Saturday so we can catch the best wind. If it is looking better in Manzo, we will caravan down there. Otherwise, you guys can join us on the Sunset Strip/Seaside beach area.
