Fri Jun 13, 08 12:40 pm SI kite size??? |
|
|
So Ive taken a lesson and had a blast doing body drags and was itching to get a board on my feet. I will prolly end up taking one more lesson before I go it alone. I got my own kite set up that will work for HR (9m REV) but I work like 15 min from SI. I was wondering what would be a better size for SI 11 or 13m. I will prolly stick with a REV just cuz I know the kite and it seemed super easy to get the hang of. _________________ Keep livin' the dream. |

Sort of depends on your weight and the board you are riding. What kind of board are you riding? And the bigger you are - generally the bigger the kite you need. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

| I'd go 13. Bigger is better for Sauvies. |

| You really dont need a 13 for SI. PKH and I only have an 11m and it works just fine. Get an 11m and a skim or surf board. You can also just make a plywood big board that works well when your first learning. |

11m for sure, then you can use it other places when you finally realize that for the most part, sauvie island is more of a place to drink than a place to kite.
This may take 2 years to realize. 4 years if your name is Ceazar |

6' 185lbs. I want to ride my wakeboard. Its a continous rocker board (142). as far as wakeboards go it doesnt have very much rocker and is a fast board so I dont think it will be too bad for kiting. _________________ Keep livin' the dream. |

Some people do work 11M and some 13M. For your size a 13M rev should work out pretty well. Or you could go old school and get a C kite. For SI I fly a 16M vegas. Its a pretty sweet light wind kite - at 190 pounds it works out perfectly. Also, you can find 17.5M Slingshot machines for pretty cheap. Real Kiteboarding has them used for $200. Those are pretty sweet light wind kites. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

| If you really plan on riding a continous rocker wakeboard at SI, you will most definetly want the 13m. |

I'm telling you, don't get the 13m. You going to be able to rock the 13 at stevenson? maybe once a year. At the gay bar..not so much.
i'm 200lbs and have a 9 and 11 rev and a 14m t2. I would rather sine the 11 on my surfboard than mess with the 14. Do you really want a $1,500 light wind kite?
But then again. if you have grand aspirations of learning to kite on a wakeboard, you may want to go with the 13. Just don't forget your gojoe and board leash.
Without them, you may look like someone who knew what there were doing and made a bad decision. With them, everyone will just understand that your a kook. |

Could of used the 13m last night - 9 and 13 would be a good spread for the north coast and any light wind travel spots for a 185 pounder _________________ Go Deep!

What is this go joe everybody talks about? will it help me boost super duper high? Does anybody have some i can try? I don't have a dog so i guess i will have to go to petsmart to pick up a leash.
Can't go by SI tonight. Already have plans to take a wake set tonight. _________________ Keep livin' the dream. |

Maybe a compromise is in order - a $200 SS Machine for SI and then get an 11M rev. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

Don't listen to monkey boy - he's just jelous cus I get all the chicks with my go joe - hahaha!!
Seriously - the Go Joe is this orange floaty you put on your board and it makes your board float down wind so its easier to get if you get separated from your board.
Oh - and don't go with a leash man. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |
