How do you get that high? I've gotten the pop pretty much down, and have gotten pretty high doing that (around 20ft) but what do you need to do to get that high?!

I love how every thread turns into talking about me, awesome! Here's video from earlier in the day.

The main ingredient in really big jumps is speed. To get that you need a fast kite and a nice takeoff.

You just can't do it with huge kites because you'll get pulled off your edge too easy.

This thread vaguely reminds me of the biological theory that ontogeny follows phylogeny—i.e. the development of an animal through it's embryonic stage roughly parallels the evolutionary history of its species.

Applied here, the development of Spike as a kiter may eventually follow that of the evolution of the sport of kiting in general.

I guess he's about here at the moment:

I went to Jones, yesterday, and got my highest jump ever! No witnesses, because I was alone and no other kiters were there. Actually, no one else was there.

Talk about poopy in the shortzies!

omgoodness, must have been somewhere around 40' vertical. I'm comparing it with jumping off the cliff on the Washougal, and this was almost twice the height of that!

I knew what I was doing, but it was a trip. I kited away after a sloppy landing.

I also did a couple backloops. I still get turned around on those. Must be I'm not looking over my shoulder.

All on my FS Sp2 15M. I also relaunched about 3 times. Relaunching gets kind of tricky in strong currents. I had to create line tension by doing a board push.

Had an interesting time body dragging to get my board, due to the strong current.

Great time, only 4 ships passed. Cold and rainy, but windy!
