Sat May 31, 08 1:00 pm UPDATE#4:GORGE GAMES KITING/NON-KITING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED |
|
|
Hi there,
Removed the other updates to keep things cleaner in the post, but kept original message, as it shows what information I need from volunteers.
Update #4: Final Update!
Here's another update on what we still need for volunteers as of today (July 13, 2008). At the very latest, I need all volunteers solidified by tomorrow. We need a total of 71 volunteers and we have about 31 right now. Some are pulling double and triple shifts on a couple days, to ensure we have coverage. Please help us out! Just a four hour shift can help a lot. Still have some people who have not followed up on their offers and I need some confirmations.
Below is a different layout than I have been using, but hopefully, it gets the point across.
July 17th.; Launch/Land, 4-8; Watercraft Assist, 8-12; Judges Tower, 8-12 & 4-8: Flag Personnel, 12-4; Beach Safety, 8-12 & 4-8; Competition Support, 4-8.
July 18th.(on-call); Launch/Land, 4-8; Watercraft Assist, 4-8; Judges Tower Assist, all shifts; Flag Personnel, 12-4 & 4-8; Lunch & Registration, 12-4; Beach Safety, 8-12 & 4-8; Comp. Support, 4-8.
July 19th.; Launch/Land, 12-4; Judges Tower Assist, 4-8; Flag Personnel, 4-8; Beach Safety, 4-8; Comp. Support, 4-8.
July 20th.(on-call); Watercraft Assist, 12-4 & 4-8; Judges Tower Assist, 12-4 & 4-8; Flag Personnel, 12-4 & 4-8; Beach Safety, All Shifts; Comp. Support, 8-12.
Pre-Registration Support; July 16, 3-6/7(2)
Thanks in advance for all your assistance. Please help us show how the kiting community can step up to the plate when called upon.
For all the volunteers, I've been able to get responses to a good deal of my questions, and will post some in another post on NWKite.com and will send something via e-mail to all of you. For all the "NWKite watchers" I'll continue to post updates.
Boarderchick
Hello Everyone,
This is Boarderchick aka: Janet. I've volunteered to be the "kiting coordinator" (point of contact) for the Gorge Games this year, and I'm working very closely with Dave Tyberski (Gorge Game Contact) on this event in order to keep up with changes and misc. things. I realize this may seem early to you all, but I'm calling for volunteers for the Gorge Games kiting portion of the event this year.
Below you will find a list of positions, shifts and number of volunteers needed for the event.
Please PM me ASAP to let me know what you are interested in (first, second and third choice), and please feel free to pass this to non-forum persons/non-kiters who may be interested in volunteering as well and have them PM me or send me an e-mail to: brdrchick@gmail.com.
Information needed in your reply is as follows:
Name; Dates Volunteering for; Shifts Volunteering for; E-Mail Address; Phone number.
Deadline for volunteers at the very latest is June 13, 2008, this to provide us enough time to get the information over to Gorge Games Directors.
Event Information:
Dates: Kiting portion July 17&July 19, 2008. Entire event is July 17-July 20.
Please note: If no wind on July 17 or July 19, the dates will be July 18 & 20 respectively.
Times: 8a-8p; Shifts: 8-12; 12-4; 4-8;
Positions and Number of Volunteers Needed:
Kite Launch/Land/Safety- 2 volunteers per shift.
Boat Assist - Set-up buoys & buoy judge for event - 2 volunteers needed per shift. If you have a boat and would like to volunteer it that would be great;-)
Judge Tower Assist-Scoring and Score board update - 1 volunteer per shift.
Flag Personnel - Monitor clock and raise flag at specific times - 1 volunteer per shift.
Registration/Lunch Assist - Give participants swag bags, register and provide lunch to participants.; 2 volunteers needed per shift.
Beach Safety -Direct beach users; keep areas clear and safe- 2 volunteers per shift.

Now for what you get as a volunteer: Swag, food, and possible other things:-) Oh, and a great big THANK YOU!
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Wish I could be there to help out. I just overheard my parents making plans for me to visit grammas while they help out with the event. This really sucks! The injustice is driving me mad…
Thanks for coordinating the volunteer effort BoarderChix!!

you can count me in for help during the event.
I'll try and round up some good quality puget sound kiters to come down and help with the event.
feel free to shoot me a PM with your email.
I'm glad to see there will be a gorge games this summer.

Awesome Jim thanks for coming through. A strong Seattle contingent would definitely help. The logistics of this event require a large amount of volunteers, and we definitely want ti to go smoothly so that we can keep it going long term.
