Rainy and dead on the south cost - after several consultations with mission control decided to rally and give Pistol River a shot

Pretty light with head and a half waves - grabbed the 11m and skim and figured i'd mess around on the flat water in the river and took the surfboard on the off chance things turned on

no one else around - laying out my lines and Mike Solback appears over the sand dunes (Josh and Sky's dad) he only has a 7m so he is hanging out - but a good omen

wind turns on - grab the srt and head out

bit intimidating solo but fun until the wind starts to crank - hold it together for awhile but end up getting launched off the wave tops

head in grab the 7m and its perfect for a while the sun is setting - catch a nice overhead wave on the outside get about halfway in and the wind shuts down and i'm steamrolled

got to practice no wind downed kite rescue technique - unhook - disconnect kite leash hold on till kite gets pummeled then let it go - collect pieces on beach

shout out to Blowhard, Regi and the Florence crew

Sweet G

Glad someone is getting some.

Sounds like the swim was a good training session. Hard not to think of the man in the gray suit down there.

Saw that floras was blowing - not much wind at Pistol but Gold Beach came on nice from the South - sweet 8ft swell, goofy heaven just a mile south of the inlet

funny you mention the men in gray - certain that Regi jinxed me - saw a big gray dolphin in the sets and rode over to check it out - it was big and gray but not a dolphin - just a monster shark cruising along dorsal and back sticking out

waves and wind too good to throw in the towel - did have a breakthrough session - got nearly every jibe - at one point I wiped on an overhead wave, body surfed a bit, captured the board, got back on and caught the reform (was highly motivated Laughing )

they are not all mean and hungry. Twisted Evil

the dolphins are small like a large salmon ... at least the ones I see around these parts.

big is a orca, sea lion, great white or a seal or numerous gray whales.

Gold Beach was great - cept the jaws sighting (first one i'd seen in six years of coast trips) no chumming with fresh urine this trip

north coast you see lots of harbor seals, aggro bull sealions (some surfing on the same wave), dolphins, gray whales once at manzo, no orcas yet

Good to see you guys again

some pics of the pistol River (fun skimboarding but the wind direction was wrong)

- North Jetty Rogue River it was junky swell was from the north and a rocky beach

- and Gold Beach - nice beach but the shore pound was all small rocks to keep you honest

Way to get some. The worst thing I've seen out in the ocean is an orca at Waddell Creek, but it seemed friendly enough going about its business. Glad you stuck with the session and caught some fun waves.

Orca mom and pup was at Newport last year.

In between the Jetties, did not see on south side.

The landlord is one thing, but Free Willy is another, they scare the crap out of me.

G-man, were you at the rock or the river mouth?
