Sweet pics guys... where is the new spot at? East or west of the old one? Is the wind much better?

It's west of the Washougal spot. As you're driving east on SR14 (from I-205), it's probably a mile or two after you enter Camas. I'll Google Earth a pic later tonight, just for the hell of it. The wind is a lot more stable than at that other spot (it was probably 20-35mph today). I was on my Fuel 7 and Henry was on his Bow 9, and there were those times when you had to work the kite, but for the most part the gusts were fun just to rip in! Not any of those 50mph+ blasts either. Wink

Damn, the water level looks a lot higher in the Google Earth pics. Where's the little island that I was chillin' on? Very Happy

You guys have me so hooked and I haven't flown anything but a trainer kite yet. One day this long weekend I may have to track you guys down and fly my trainer while I watch you guys have fun.

Looked like an '05 to me, but I didn't look really close. Not sure if it's a 123 though. Definately clean! Very Happy

It was pretty sweet. Henry found a really nice spot (let's call it Henry's Beach). I had an excellent first session, but it did drop out some before I left. Jim and Janet were pumping up a 16 as I left for Hood River. I look forward to riding here again when it's nukin at Rooster.

Easterlies at Hood River Sand Spit, January 2004.
Photos courtesy of Jim Mason.
Dan Gavere (RRD Dude) was out on a snowboard, and Ken Lucas (Cabrinha rep) was out on Telemark Skis. Jim had some shots of them on the snow covered spit, as well as going out into the water, carving some turns, then coming back into the snow/spit. These are the only photos that I could find today, though. Jim is traveling Eastern Europe and Asia for the winter, but he would probably still have the photos of them out on the water, too.
I'm glad to see that people are pioneering new east wind spots. Hopefully I'll join you guys out there at some point this winter.
