Any interest in Ben Wilson surf clinics?

I read on the other forum that Ben Wilson's holding wave-riding clinics in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, L.A., and San Diego starting August 6th and going through August.

I asked about them coming up to the Oregon Coast, and Bruce from benwilsonsurf.com said that they may be interested in coming up prior to the San Francisco clinic, if there was enough interest.

Find out more at http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2348340&sid=f6773d4d958460e7779949fa532102c6

So how about it? Any interest in attending? it'd be good to have some numbers for them. The cost is $295 booked in advance. A response on this forum could give them an idea of whether its worth it.
I think it would be worth the bucks to learn some good technique from one of the best!

Hi Jumpin Jimi, am I sensing a little bit of jealousy perhaps? Wink

The clinic sounds awesome, I'm sure Onad's in. I'll volunteer to providing shuttle service and support.

Dudes!! I am so in!! Do you think there is a minimum age or height restriction?? Razz

But seriously, my dad is really interested and would sign up for a clinic with the Ben Man!

Did you guys see Ben’s new instructional surf DVD is out?

Arrow http://buyslingshotsports.com/s.nl/it.A/id.2327/.f

Wave ride like a professional, Learn from a Professional! Ben Wilson Introduces “Smack”, kiteboarding’s latest instructional video purely dedicated to riding waves. Are you ready to take your wave riding to the next level?
Want to refine your riding style, get comfortable unhooking, master riding strapless, advance your surfing skills, or just get more comfortable in the surf?
If the answer is yes you will benefit from the skills and knowledge that Ben Wilson has personally developed to make him the most progressive wave kiter in the world.

Later, Slater

Jimi, this would be the time to see for sure if you're seeing the whole story or not. I can say that after watching some of the best waveriders on Oahu (Tophat, Felix, and Co.) - there's no one caddying for them, or dragging their kites upwind. I'm sure Ben can handle himself just fine in the waves here in Oregon, as can most anybody that's got some kite skills. While you probably don't need it, I think it'd be great to get some first hand tips on kite handling while going down the line, strapless riding, jibing, toeside upwind riding, off the lips, cutbacks, getting over big whitewater, etc. Sounds like a great way to improve faster than the trial and error method.

Aytime one of the top riders in the world comes to your local beach it is a great chance to see how they approach the place. Kiteboarding is totally unique with each individual and I have never see any two people ride the same way. Ben Wilson rips and it would be pretty cool to have his advise before, during and after a surf session.

Jimi-

What's wrong with flying a C kite and/or riding unhooked?
To each his or her own or did I misunderstand your statement. Ben rips and we could all learn something. Keep your SLE and not crashing.
Risk is personal.
