Buy ten and then you will have one for each board.

No worries on the Go Joe Terremoto, Don't listen to the haters! It's way better to be able to progress your kiting than it is to look cool.

I dunno man. Some people been hating on my knees. Now I need to get super baggy shorts which are gonna slow my rotations down due to the air resistance and make it hard to progress this summer. Ah, the difficult choices we have to make.

Seriously though, I used to carry an extra leash that I would clip onto my board if my kite went down. This way even if it takes like 10 minutes to get your kite up the board is still with you instead of being lost.

Free decal to the first guy hitting the slider with a go-joe! Wink

Seriously though, the go-joe is super gay. Here are my tips to not losing your board:

1) Put your name and # on board, me and my friends experience is 2/3 of the time you'll get it back.
2) Always ride with other people that can keep an eye on you (good for safety sake anyway.)
3) If you lose your board and crash your kite, take Adam's method and depower your kite on the water and take a swim for it. If that doesn't work hopefully somebody is keeping an eye on you.
4) Body dragging upwind is an essential skill and should be the first thing you learn how to do before you ever even strap on a board.

Even with all that, yeah you are probably going to lose your board sooner or later in your kiteboarding career, especially if you kite alone. Its not the worst thing in the world, just think of it as a good excuse to upgrade.

If I see someone with a go-joe or wearing a leash, to me it just means they are afraid.. and fear is not your friend on the water.

Just my $.02...

OK, I can upwind body drag fast and all day long. My problem is I cannot see well. I like the idea of painting my fins orange, any body have any other ideas about seeing my board in the swell, instead of a go-joe?

what about a smoke flare attached to your board with the cap leashed to your harness. as soon as you get seperated and the cap pops off, bright orange smoke everwhere!

Just don't lose your board twice! Come to think of it, there's a lot of tricks that would look awesome with a smoke trail...

Moto,
I too lost my board for a period of time yesterday. I was mostly alone at Lyle, the other kiters being way up-wind of the Klikitat R where I was when I got yarded by my spiraling kite. I just followed the advise I picked up on this forum: Relentless up-wind body drag to the count of 30 in one direction, repeat in the other tack, repeat, repeat.
Took 4 tacks until I was then upwind of the board and able to finally see it. Much, much easier to spot the board once you have passed it upwind.
I have bad eye-sight and elected for inter-ocular implant instead. Eye does not tear/water. I now have monocular vision that works great, but then... I'm 58 y.o.
Gonna day-glo paint my fins ASAP.
Kip
PS, I have a GoJo in my garage, I hope I've out grown it.

Holly, I see where you are coming from. However, its not about not wanting to body drag, I really don't give a sh*t if I have to body drag, what I am concerned about is losing track of my board and then having to buy another one Crying or Very sad

Phil pointed out that even experienced kiters lose their board sometimes - it just happens. No matter how good of a body dragger I am - I can still lose my board. I don't want to lose my board - the orange balloon I put on my board will minimize the risk of me losing my board (there aren't any guarantees in life).

So F*ck it, so I'll look like a kook. Fine by me - when I want to come in and there are people in my way - I'll just give them a crazy look, wobble back and forth on my board, and then point to my go joe - they'll probably get out of my way Laughing

I can't afford a genuine go joe 10-pack, but I have some left over balloons from my daughter's birthday, so I'm thinking I'll just tie a couple those on the handle. Kick-ass!!

Now that I think of it, there's some leftover ribbon and streamers too. If I tie those to my board it will be easy to see and I'll have something to grab even if I can't quite get to my board. Plus it's like a party on the water! Cool

Friends don't let friends GO-JO.

Seriously though, I would have given anything to see the look on Reuban's face if you pulled the go-joe board out of my car at Manzo (not that I would have allowed it IN my car in the first place).

It's all kook all the time so go for it, who gives a rip in the end. could be worse, you could be on a foil.

Laughing
