Long term forecast doesn't look too good but I will be in Seaside with the family 9-14 of May. What wind sensors do you guys watch for wind?

If it's out of the South, Seaside can have the magic!

If you see Troll doing chores around his lair, it's windy!

yeah, I got back to Seaside from a weekend in PDX and found a lot of tired pups with over 5 hours of sailing each... some going back for more Twisted Evil . Thankfully, the late afternoon served up a tasty 11m session right out front. Big fun swell and NW winds should be on the menu all week kids - time to cash in on some sick days Laughing . How was the gorge today??

Seaside is a magical place to ride, but the wind requirements are more or less similar to other launch sites. Razz

It's usually pretty hard to ride deep in the "bay" although it's siren of butter is hard to resist and lures many a rider.

Sometimes if you catch the outgoing tide you can get an opposing current to boost your power and up-wind ability.

The terrain yesterday was AMAZING! Just needed a little more juice to really take advantage of it. Hopefully today!

The Bay of Troll did not get windy enough to kite today. Crying or Very sad

However, the cocktail hour landboard session was in the high teens and very fun.

Thumb's Up

Landboarding takes almost no wind...if there's enough to keep my B4 in the air I can cruise around.

Mid teens is perfect for the B4....I used to harness up and rig my big inflatables but lately I'm really having fun just unhooked with the foil. I can rig & launch it in about 30 seconds.

The hard sand is so flat and smooth it's like a fresh groomed run in soft powder.

Yeah, an easy launch is SO much safer when you're so buzzed that you're slurring. Shocked

You should try a four-line kite on handles for groundboarding. Way better than a two line or two line on a bar.

Hmmm, I guess I would have to try it out. Depower is always nice, but I also like flying and steering one handed - how else can you consume beverages while you ride?

Actually with four-lines on handles there's no depower, but there's independent braking on both sides of the trailing edge. To reduce power, you just slow the kite's speed. With a four-line on handles you can put the kite anywhere in the window you want at any speed you want. I actually feel more in control with a four-line on handles than a four-line depower. But then again, there is that beer thing you mention....

I have a brand new 4 line on handle kite for sale - HQ Beamer TSR 3.6m. I'm looking for a landboard, so I'd be up for a trade if anyone was interested....?
