If we put chanson's wood thing out there, I bet it would last a week or maybe two before someone beat the shit out of it or ODFW hauled it away. NO?

The slider we're building is light enough for two dudes to carry. You're best bet is something that is portable.

The two big things about Sauvies:

1) You don't want to leave it there if you have any kind of time or money invested. The place gets overrun by fisherman and high schoolers that will probably trash whatever we'd leave behind. Not to mention the fish & wildlife folks might try to have it removed.

2) It would have to float as it gets real deep real fast out there. I don't think carting it all the way up to the nudie beach is really an option. Also depending on the direction that area gets a lot of wind shadow.

How would you know phil, I don't think I've seen up up wind of even the pylon on the beach Shocked . . . typically it's only onad, Mark, Slither, alleycat, and few others. But the wind is ubber smooth, especially with the tree clearing across the river that gives you an unobstructed Helens view. And, yes of course it depends on wind direction, but that applies to everywhere there. . .as far as placement of a kicker up there. . .there is a shallow area there starting at about the ospreys nesting site down river past the nude beach. . . I'd say it's 200 yards or so from the nesting site to where the nude people hang. I'm all for placing it right where the boat on the beach used to be, but the current and depth of water is going to make that very difficult I think. Plus if anyone f's up while on the kicker, people on the beach probably will get pegged by kite lines and or kite. . . unless riding on the kicker was only allowed to be south to north/towards the washington side.

the wind can be very nice up in skinville but the problem with setting up a slider up there is that there is never anyone around to help set it up.

Good thread though it seems that a couple of things are aparant:

1. It needs to float because it gets too deep too quickly.
2. We can't leave it there because people will mess with it.
3. Placement is a concern so bathers won't get crushed by kites

The floating thing really sucks though because that will make transportation a nightmare. Crying or Very sad

what about large pvc capped at each end with a permanently tethered anchor and or some modification of this all you would have to find is the end of the anchor line and pvc could be carried

Bettyboarder--have you talked to ODFW about a clean up yet?

No I haven't talked to them yet. Last I heard Sauvies was looking pretty good but I have not seen it with my own eyes yet.

Hows the beach look out there?

I know I am not as much of a fan as big old naked dudes as you guys are, but like I said depending on the direction. If its straight sideshore at the main beach the nudie beach is in a wind shadow because the river curves there.

Anyway sessioning a slider in front of the nudies might be an interesting photo-op Very Happy ... but if it were me I'd figure out a way to get the slider to the main beach where everybody can watch.
