what's the relevance of this? I'm from Cleveland and a quick glance at the avatar box says I live in portland. I suppose I have nothing to be ashamed of. The Cuyahoga River catching on fire NEVER gets mentioned to me at work, since that's what everyone seems to remember Cleveland for (that and sports teams that just can't win the big ones). Current reasoning seems to say there's nothing to be ashamed of since it wasn't our fault anyway. Must be the earth's core or something.
anyway, it was not my intention to provoke a flame war on casinos and global warming. Sorry, PKH about that. My intent was more of an FYI.
I believe this discussion is not serving its intended purpose and that further discussion is of little value. Most people are pretty entrenched on their beliefs, well informed or not- and flame wars just get people agitated and don't convince anybody of anything.
For my part, I do what I think is right with the information I have and that I believe is reasonably reliable. The reliablility of information is what some posters are really upset about. Frankly, I don't have the time or motivation to do the deep digging. Even then, can you really be sure????
To be honest, I think there will be very little attention paid to what we are discussing as well as any letters that get sent. Unless there is an overwhelming response, i'm betting the powers that be will do what they damn well please.
For my conscience, I felt that submitting a form letter, and encouraging others to do so would be some small thing I could do. |
