Sat Apr 05, 08 12:40 pm CGKA Summer Campout at Rufus AKA Rufus Rockpile Rodeo |
|
|
When? Satruday June 28th
Where? Rufus
This event is called the Rufus Rockpile Rodeo
This campout is in conjuction of the City of Rufus's Independance Day Celebration. From 3-6 there will be a parade and BBQ brought to you by the City of Rufus.
The rodeo is going to be a very informal team based freestyle kiteboard competition. There will be some sort of prize for the best combined team score. Each team will have 1 of each, an advanced (aspiring or already pro) rider, 1 man, 1 women, one OG, and one junior. This competition is about building skills and teamwork. The team will be there to help each other advance their skills and help each other get on and off the water during their heat.
The campout is just as it sounds, campout and hang out together at the "Rockpile".
Everyone is encouraged to go into town for the BBQ and fireworks. The City is opening up their arms and want us to feel welcome to their event.
Your entry fee gets you in the comp, a t-shirt and BBQ ticket. I am trying to get a good t-shirt price and as soon as I know how much they are I will have the final entry fee for you. Anyone have a killer t-shirt connection?
b.y.o.b. or whatever you like to drink.
This is open to CGKA members only, if you are not a member now is a good time to join. It's only $10 to join....The CGKA is promoting a lot of events this year. Please help the cause by joining. There is a post from BettyBoarder further down this thread that explains how to join.
Feedback is always welcome, this is an informal gig. Let's make it fun.

Ha! 36? why your like a spring chicken, they call them peepers out there in rufus.
What does it take to be an OG?
Is it how old you think you are, or how old you feel?
I'm in, but I dont know if I should be classified as an OG? or a junior |

| We have an extra Jr kiter (Rebecca) and since no one has claimed Tucker, we will work as his agent. Each Jr. kiter will go go to the highest bidder. Cash and paypal will be accepted. If you win them, you must feed and keep them out of your alcohol all weekend. Bidding will start at $15. |

Do we get extra points if the whole team is related? And I'm assuming everyone on the team has to kite.
Here's our team if I can get everyone in town at the same time:
Advanced: Shan
Man: Grom
Woman: Carol
OG: Tony
Junior: Sam
I knew this investment would pay off one day!!!

OG status will be based on participation level. I am thinking OG will be 35, a few guys mentioned a Super OG category.....maybe 45+?
I am open to suggestions.....

Just turned 45 a couple of weeks ago. We gotta be careful about setting the OG bar too low - Bambam just turned 40 this year! |

I would think that The Bammer wpuld now be considered "INDUSTRY", no OG for him.
Old has always been 40, over the hill, duh. The Black Birthday. |

Steamboat Ski Patrol holds a similar "fun" ski race in the spring yearly. Patrolers and family sign up to participate then a few people organize the teams to make them as even as possible based on ability but still with the level mix Pro, OG, Jr., Women, etc. Then the teams are sold to the highest bidder(s). Winning teams split the $ with the team owners.
Just a thought if people are having difficulty getting a team together but want to participate. |
