Kiteboarding 4 Cancer Participants: Ready, Set, GO!

The 2008 Kiteboarding 4 Cancer Fundraiser and Donor pages are live and ready for fundraisers! To participate as a fundraiser and be in the endurance race, go to http://www.active.com/donate/kb4c2008 and click on "Become a Fundraiser." Here you will be able to create your own fundraising page and collect donations! Sorry, you will have to create a new page even if you have one from last year. All fundraisers must raise a minimum of $100 to receive their JWCF and KB4C swag packet and be automatically entered in the endurance race. Kiteboarding 4 Cancer is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization now, IRS tax ID #42-1737854. so be sure to talk to your employer about matched giving!

KB4C is partnering with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation this year as its primary charity sponsor versus having 3 charities to have to choose from. Donations made through online fundraising by athletes will help fund JWCF programs and research through the John Wayne Cancer Institute. This is a really cool organization that is very active in cancer research and education. To learn more about JWCF and JWCI, check out their websites (linked).

Our second cancer charity partner is Celilo Cancer Center in The Dalles, which will receive funds through the KB4C Silent Auction. Celilo is an amazing retreat for those diagnosed and living with cancer. Celilo offers a very personalized experience through complimentary healing patient services, but also provides world-class comprehensive chemo and radiation treatments. It is truly an extraordinary place.

Anyone interested in becoming a corporate sponsor or donate items to the silent auction, please contact Tonia (at) kb4c.org or PM me. We are going to have an incredible event this year!!

Kiteboarding 4 Cancer is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, IRS tax ID #42-1737854. We fund our event and charities solely through tax-deductible contributions from private individuals, corporations and foundations.

Scheduled for the 2008 KB4C:
* 8-hour Endurance race
* Freestyle contest - NEW
* BBQ and Full Sail tent
* Silent auction
* Live music
* After-party at the River City Saloon

For up-to-date information and news on the event, check out our blog: http://www.kb4c.wordpress.com.

PostWed Apr 02, 08 12:23 pm    Registration vs. Fundraising Reply with quote

I just wanted to clarify for anyone who may be confused about registering as a "fundraiser" versus "registering for this event": There are two ways of signing up for KB4C:

1. As a Fundraiser: Through this page: http://www.active.com/donate/kb4c2008
- Fundraisers get other people to donate to their cause
- Fundraisers get automatically entered into the Endurance Race with a minimum of $100 in donations
- Fundraisers are in the pool to win a lot more prizes!! (Cash....mmmm and a stand-up paddle board...mmmm and more!!!)
- Fundraisers are automatically included in Donation-Match Contests (more to come on this!)

You are automatically registered for the event after getting a minimum of $100 in online donations as a fundraiser.

2. Day-of-race Participant only: Through the "Register for this Event" link on the page above, that goes to this page: http://www.active.com/donate/kb4c2008
- Day-of participants pay a $55 event registration fee until July 1 or $70 after July1
- Day-of participants are in prize pool only for endurance race

So.... Go raise some CA$H!!!!

PostFri Apr 11, 08 11:30 am    Wired Energy Drink Sponsor??? Reply with quote

Hey Tonia,

i have a guy a Wired Energy Drinks that is interested in sponsoring your event. They would be more than happy to donate some drinks and auction items to help make KB4C a great success. Who should he contact to set up a sponsorship for this event? Wired also has a drink called Wired X Passion-fruit which helps support breast cancer and they also do many Relay for Life events which are promoted by A.C.S. If you have any more questions about wired or if there is anything else that you would like them to do, shoot me an email at arehn@earthlink.net or just post back. Thank you and I'm stoked for KB4C 2008.

She has been out of town, I think she just got back. If I see her this weekend or Garret I will remind them to contact you about the energy drinks.
