Anyone had success on something bigger?

I've only been on the water there once.
It was really windy, and I decided to go for the water when it was too much to hold down on the skate.
Just skatekiting the wind seems really fluky, I would be really nervous about going onto the water.
Also there is no immediate spot to get out of the water downwind.
Saw some kids end up on the Vancouver side once.
It has to be really windy to be good there.
The one day I actually got out on the water it was probably blowing ~50 at rooster.

Yeah Stingers tha man...!!
no, he's right though...We were talking about it yesterday when we were there...it's always fluk-ey..if its clean it's not for too long... but ride-able...only if you really want it.. Gotta stay upwind of the pilings to stay safe.

For water kiting - Usually you need a really strong east wind to ride there, though I guess a few folks have caught it on W/NW wind. I haven't had many great sessions, usually just ride it when RR is super nuked out.
On east wind its good to ride just downwind of the pilings as they help block the downwind current and make the water a bit flatter.
This fall we drove all the way up Marine drive and found a few other potential spots that might be a bit nicer than the airport spot.

yes!
chris-you are like Chris Isaak in the new avatar!!
lets jam dude, cast off on Fri!
...Yeah, the East days are the off-season winds that work way better.
the N-NW random fronts in the summer are the fluke-y weirdo days.
yeah phil you're due for another session.
