Anyone know where to kite near Bandon. Haven't been down there in a long time but have a golf trip in April and was tempted to bring my kites. Any info helpful especially spots near the golf course.

Not that we encourage golfing on kite trips but directly out from the course is Whiskey Run.

Tomorrow 22ft at 13 seconds, let's get em!

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Breezy. Highs around 50. Southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.

There is a spot just south of Face Rock. I have only windsurfed there but it was ok. follow the face rock scenic loop from downtown Bandon, once your south of all the stacks...your there.

Thanks- no wind go golfing.Windy go kiting-sounds great.Too bad the Oregon local golf special ends soon before the summer NW winds really kick in.. $200 a round for the summer is pretty steep.

hey troll, is that your best?...really tho Razz

The Riding near Bandon is great. Whiskey run would be the first call, I've kited at face rock (south access) and its good, nice breaks and fun rocks to jump over Wink Floras lake is south of bandon and is a very good spot for flat water. (usually pretty crowed in the summer)

Coos bay is around 45 miles north of Bandon, There is a lot of good area to ride up there, Mainly on the dune side of the bay(north of town). Go to North Winds Kite Shop in coos bay to get familair with the local scene, they'll show ya all the good spots.

Also, if the wind is light, head south to Pistol River - great surfing and kiting. Very Happy

Pistol river is a lot better for windsurfing,..... Wink
You'll want to park/launch down by the actual river, and not up by all the windsmurfers. There is a lot of big rocks that disrupt the wind. And watch out for the Riptides....pretty fast outgoing current where the river mouth is. i reckon its average winds around 40knts, so bring your smallest kite.

-oh and i guess i could mention sharks Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Huge breeding ground,...huge

PLOVERS- stay out of the fordune area, stay on the wetsand/waves....thats the last i heard about the PLOVER.
