I was watching the wind from my office until 4?
You must have gone out after 4?

Scott,

If it looks good at all this weekend at Seaside, even if a little rain, do you mind making a post here and letting us know? Would love to get to the coast even if its a bit cold.

I think it was right around 4. Pretty strong wind but decently steady. Unfortunately I got a small rip in my kite (probably when self launching) and had to end the session early. I was pretty overpowered on my 12m anyway. 8 or 9 would have been great.

Today looks like a land board sesh at best. Tomorrow sounds like another windy one!

bamboo - not sure storm winds are the best for first day on the coast. Doesn't look to be too much wind anyway. I am heading out to Eastern Gorge. Hopefully it works out. Confused

Does it matter if the wind comes from the south or north?

Oh I love being wrong..sometimes! Yesterday delivered 90 minutes or so of really nice 16-20m conditions at Seaside. Lots of glassy faces and fun reform to play on.

For those new to the coast, winds out of the southern quarter probably warrant a little extra caution. It seemed a little more side almost side/off at Seaside. If you get blown past the river it's a long walk back depending on the tide. Probably driving onto the beach at Del Ray or Sunset is a good call. The SW's don't have the predictability of the NW's i.e. building the afternoon. It's more a matter of getting out there and watching it. A little hit and miss, but yesterday was pure swickedness and you can't spell that without SW!

slither,

is it worth the drive today in your humble opinion? looks a little offshore today, but strong.

I'm in HR right now, guess I picked the wrong direction for the weekend. Mad

Have fun! Wind there looks pretty good right now, not sure about the rain... but at this point I'd charge straight into Katrina for some riding.
