I just noticed the comment about KB4C being planned for August 16th and wanted to jump in quick to see if we can list all of the major events planned for the NW next summer and hopefully get them staggered so we can enjoy them all.

Not sure who is coordinating them all but maybe you can post here and hopefully PM whoever is coordinating a conflicting event and see if there are any options to move things around. Right now it looks like a conflict between KB4C and Nitinaht.

So, the events and the dates as we know them:

- 2nd Wind Sports Kiteboard Party 3rd weekend in May (one week before Memorial Day Weekend).
- Pepi Mystery Party 3rd week in June
- Bridge of The Gods - July 25 - 27
- Blowout - August 2nd
- KB4C - August 16th - done deal? Any chance it could move forward one week to Aug 9th?
- Nitinaht WindFest - August 13 - 17th: http://nitinaht.ca/NWF2007.htm

- Strapless Collective - ???

any others?

The Bridge of the God's Kite Festival will be the last weekend of July. (July 25th, 26th and 27th)

We have big plans for this year's event. We will be expanding the festival a bit to include some pro wakeboarders in the morning, same day video coverage and slide show afterwards in the evening (hopefully at Walking Man). Pancake breakfast, and Mix-A-Lot music. I am working on some live bands too. The food will be at the East Point launch like last year.

Gary is working on the competition format, Dave is working on sponsorship and all the legal stuff.

Renee left us in real good hands, so things should run smoothly.

We've already set our date for the annual "2nd Wind Sports Kiteboard Party" the 3rd weekend in May (one week before Memorial Day Weekend).

We're also working on something the 3rd week in June as well, I don't want to curse myself until we get all the liability issues dialed in, but it will be on or near the water that weekend, and will involve music and beverages.

Steve,

Man, I sure hope BOTG goes on the first day. I need to be up north on the morning of the 27th for the Chelan XC Open... I am locked into the Paragliding event, so come on wind Gods... let it it rip on day one at this next BOTG...

Masters had better still be 40 and older... Don't wanna go turning 40 and get smoked by some 35 year old youngen...

See you this summer for the event, Bammer

Hmmmm... Tony...
We might have to think about nominating you as Kiting Events Chairperson for the CGKA.

Thanks for taking the time to get this thread rolling. It's important to get this sort of stuff dialed in during the winter season so that we are all dialed in by summertime with all the scheduling and liability requirements.

Pepi! I think I have my hands full - what with coordinating the 7 kiters of the Bolstad clan and my new duties as Port Commissioner! Shocked But I may be able to take this on if no one else volunteers for it. I have some ideas for other events that might be fun as well.

I thought I heard that Jim (shredjim) was going to take on coordinating the Blowout this year. Anybody know?

What do you guys think about an events category for the Forum with a calander? Maybe now that Phil has announced that the water is too cold for him to kite, he will have enough time to add this feature. I do think it will help.

I could, but how many events are there... enough for a whole section? I think at the high point we had maybe 3 or 4 stickies last summer.

The other categories don't get nearly as much traffic as the main one, so if you really want event exposure its good to post event details and have it stickified.

Is there anyway to have a thread with a calendar embedded in the first post that we can add events to? We only have 4 or 5 "big" events but I'd like to be able to keep track of things like Hat Day, Amery's party, or Mixwell's Stevenson Jam. And our annual "Rum Hurts" party at the Tiki bar. Kind of a public calendar we can pencil things into.

we could add a calendar to the CGKA website once i get the new site done, i already have it up and running but haven't added any of the content.

we could probably have the ability for members to post events and/or notices on the calendar as well. might be like a month or so before the new site is done tho.

Why don't you set up a nwkite Google calendar with events and just add a link to the top nav?

Do moderators get free beer?

I'll do it unless somebody else really wants to. I don't have tons of time but since I started this thread....
