| Went out to Cottonwood at about 2pm seemed about as busy as the Sandbar! I went east to St Cloud and had a couple of hours of excellent 7m conditions - wind was very steady no gusts to speak of, lighter close to shore and then stronger towards the middle of the river. A small point upwind shelters the launch a little bit. Plenty of shoreline downwind if you needed it and the river is extra wide here, don't think i went further than a 3rd of the way across, barge channel is on the OR side. Beach is mostly rocks so you have to be careful self launching you wouldn't want to get dragged on the beach. Seems like it was much mellower than RR looked, don't know if i just got lucky or if it's always good when RR is nuking but i'll be checking it out again. I know a couple of people have posted about riding here on westerlies, hope it's not someones easterly secret spot but the parking lot and the riding area are huge so plenty of room to share, would have been nice to have a couple of other people out with so much wind. |
