Newport is the port for most the riders in your hood. It is a pretty friendly spot. The only thing to worry about really is the waves eating your kites. There are usually several kites as well as surferf, and poleboarders at south beach. South beach is about a mile south of the bridge. Florence is where I ride the most but is a bit more of a hike for you. The end of the season is approaching so planning to meet up with anyone is risky for wind. If the wind picks up today we will be at the south jetty of florence and I would be happy to help out. Keep this in mind though, I am not an instructor and I really like to ride. So this combo will have me on the water and not able to give advise on demand. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you go downwind too far your on your own. You should be good at self landing your kite. The waves are still pretty small for the most part, however when out there a 4 footer can seem to stack up to 8. If you lose your board past the break try to drag to it, if it is in the waves or close to shore drag in to shallower water and wait for it to come in. I am hoping to be to florence by 2 , so if you want to come down go for it. If not go to newport however today the wind may not go that far north. The ocean is awesome. Bring the board you would ride normally don't try out some new wave board for a while. A good thing for most spots would be to ask the other kiters of any flight pattern or knowledge of how to make your riding a smoother experience.
