So this was my first summer kiteboarding, and school has started up again.
Like so many other students i now have somewhere to be 7 days a week.
The problem is that i'm now addicted, and i'm trying to find a way to get my fix.

Are there any more local (i live in east Vancouver) spots i can hit up for a quick morning or evening sesh?
Should i pick up landboarding seeing as there are several large fields near my house?
Should i relearn what else is fun to do?
Should i do my homework?

What do other people do to get a quick fix?

Kiteboarding is kinda of out of the question mid winter. Snowboarding on the other hand is in! I tried a bunch of times to get out to the coast for some SW storm action and we succeeded twice and once at the Ponds on an E wind. It's not impossible.

We've kited Washougal and Camas several times when Rooster's nuked out. However, the water is insanely cold so you don't want to be riding alone if at all possible. And 5mm wetsuits or drysuits are a must.

Georgetown Lake/ Mt Haggin in Mt and soon a bunch of new places in North Idaho and Eastern Wa for snowkiting.....!!!!! Initially the water was just a filler to get me through till winter. I now have equal balance in my life. I would try and hook up with the folks that go up to Crater lake on sleds, that sounds bitchin, otherwise, theres always all the great photos on NWKITE!!!!!!!

You just have to set your study schedule up and stick to it. I usually try to do as much as poss during the week then on Sat morning I try to get it all done so I can have fun the rest of the weekend. Its amazing how fast you get done with your homework when your friends are out having fun.

everyone should try kiting at Rooster in November once.

the reason is because once is all it usually takes for you to realize A.) MAN this water is F'in cold and the cold ass wind from Montana makes it 10 times colder B.) I'm hard core c.) yeah I'm hard core, but in a hard core idiot kind of way.

It is fun in a deviant and wicked kind of way, but only for like 30 minutes.

The air and water on the coast stays in the 50's throughout the winter, sometimes the water can get even warmer than in the summer with lots of SW flow.

But... nailing that SW'erly storm sesh can be tough unless you are right there. I think winter is the time when it really pays to live on the coast (if you want to keep kiting.)

And yeah lets hope for some good easterly days all the way into November. I got a drysuit now so I'm looking forward to a more comfortable late November sesh (or as comfortable as it possibly can be.)

Just get yourself a 6mil hooded, with some booties and gloves...you'll be set...

This was at the airport on a wicked Easterly on Dec. 9th last year. Laughing

-and yes, the coast is totally do-able all winter long....just depends how bad you want it. Shocked

i cant imagine living in a place where you cant ride all year round.....

down south, its better here in the winter than the summer. i'll get in more days this winter than i did living at the coast all summer. Cool

note: In mid winter S.O.K.A. will be hosting a "snow daze" kite camp. This would be a great time for some of you guys to come down and snowkite.

I agree, but how can you be cold Henry? You've got like 5 wetsuits and a Pryo. Wink
