Plenty of people f'd up their ribs in mystic harnesses, I did mine in a pro limit.

Seat harness might save your ribs, but destroy your balls. take your pick

rode a seat harness for years, bought a mystic warrior this summer and I'm planing on selling it. The seat harness is just more comfortable for me. My back never gets tired, it seems to be easier to get upwind when I'm really powered because the pull is much lower, and when I send the kite I can still breath.

From my vast xperience (6 sessions) split between a pyro and a storm the seat harness is better for my level... much more comfort and it keeps the bar closer.....

Separated ribs, Mystic Waist Harness... I know of at least 3 other locals getting injuries occurring using the mysitc harness this year. Love the harness, but I wonder if its got qualities that would cause this injury.

i think that they all suck. i went w/ a north waist harness and hated it. it fucking killed me. i tried in the seat harnesses i could get my hands and they didn't feel too good in the store, so i went back out and cranked my velcro tight. my ribs are digging it. it's not perfect by any means, and was somewhat counter intuitive, but it keeps the thing from riding up as badly and wrecking my ribs/preventing breathing. i hurt for days sometimes. i'm okay w/ keeping it now which is a long way from not even wanting to get on the water!
btw. i contacted north and asked them about their 'no slip design': no response. not the way to get my respect after making big claims that don't deliver. shame shame

I'm getting to the level where I think I want a waist harness... but all this rib injury talk frightens the Kid...

I switched to the Mystic Firestarter about 2 months ago. It looks better in the pictures instead of wearing a diaper, but it uses opposite muscles and raises the pull and twist much higher. My muscles around the ribs are getting tough but I can't kite as long especially if the kite is overpowered because it keeps pulling up on the ribs compared to sitting down against it. Toe side riding is easier since it pivots a little. I carry both and in kb4c the seat harness was the "h" of choice for 7 hours straight kiting. Photo sesh - waiste harness wins and I end up with sore hip bones and ribs.

i've used a seat harness (dakine fusion) since i've started. I tried a waist harness and found them to suck ass. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
I loosen my leg straps which makes the harness ride a lil higher. this allows me to still twist my lower torso easier(much like a waist) and still have the spreader bar down below the ribs.
the only drawback is that i took a kidney shot attemping unhooked frontrolls. what happend is that the harness actually dug into my back during impact.
what a slow healer that was i tell ya.
