Rooster Rock blowing yet? Is this going to be the place for those not making the trip to the coast?

Not right now man. Its at 3 knots. However, give it some time - the gorge looks like its turning easterly.

Probably... Stevenson is already E 13G18, and it seems like Rooster is usually stronger. The aviation forecast shows Troutdale winds steadily getting stronger till noon, then holding till 5:00. Rooster is always MUCH stronger than Troutdale on Easterlies. Also, the aviation forecast for Troutdale tomorrow shows East at 20! Rooster might be Nuked out tomorrow! I'll check on the water levels here in Camas today and post them later on.

The Rooster sensor is worthless... Last time I went to Rooster I only brought my bigger kites because Ikitesurf was showing 10-15. Actual winds were well over 30. Corbett is 9G15 and Rooster is usually stronger than the Corbett reading

That really sucks. Best hopes for fast recovery.

On a side note, if you're injured, be careful at Rooster. The VS might smell blood...

what would be a good time to be there and do you need a parking pass like at sauvie? also, what end of the parking lot, upriver or downriver? (less important I know but whatever)

...no, I have never been there before

There's a booth when you enter, $3 parking. (It may be closed now that it's after labor day?)

It's windy now, and will probably drop off late afternoon?

Drive all the way East and park. Go down the steps and bear slightly left. The Main Kite beach is marked by a wooden "Volleyball" post. Turn left down that path. Or, continue East as far as you can hike for the flat water. (30 minute hike. It's also windier up there.) Bear to the river side of the hill... Once you're done riding up there, put your gear in your kite backpack and ride downwind back to Kite beach. Wear hard soled sandals while hiking, there are some nasty cut brush stumps hiding in small weeds on the path.

Beware the Viet Schlong! Shocked

Park right next to the Viet Schlong . . . they'll like to watch you set up Shocked

Just Kidding - as for parking - you can buy a day pass for like two bucks or so. I generally park as far east as I can because the windsurfers generally take over the section that is west of the watchtower thing.

Spike, and anyone else unfamiliar with Rooster,

There have been break-ins and theft of kite gear at the parking lot. Keep valuables out of view. Don't leave anything that identifies you as a kiter in view.

Also, throw a speedo on the passenger seat and the crack-heads will assume you're VS, and hence have left nothing worth stealing in the trunk! Very Happy
