Why weren't the female athletes who participated in the race recognized in their own catagory?
just wondering. |

i don't know that there was a need...
I chased one girl the whole time... aye yi yi... I barely squeezed past her during the "thread the needle" of windsurfer section....
the girls I saw were just as competitive as the guys. |

Apparently when you were not ready Adam.
Adam's quotes of the weekend
1. "I would of been a contender"
2. "What kind of beer are you gonna get. Don't get something that is gonna get everyone f@cked up" |

d00d, i was still launching people when you blew the horn.
left the 2nd keg there overnight, and came and picked it up emtpy the next morning with tap & bucket. and the second quote only took place after we had already downed an entire keg.
I'm not gonna bitch about not being able to start on time anymore (this is the last wine i swear), but seriously, what time did you blow the horn? Last edited by magicmaker on Mon Aug 13, 07 10:04 am; edited 1 time in total |

Just curious, what was the average sized kite out there for those in the race and were surfboards the norm or TTs?
Next year for sure I'm in. |

I was on my 11m waroo and 5'10' surfboard....perfect when in the good sections.... a little under-powered in the lulls....and super lit at Swell City!!!! _________________ Shallow Dive Design, 2nd Wind Sports, Airush, Trident Sports |

i think the average kite size was probably 13m - 16m. I saw one 7m and wally also flew his 17.5m; so really quite the range of kites, tough to say what the average was.
Also, lots of variation in boards. Surfboards, twin tips and directionals. |

I rode a 12m waroo and regular twin tip. Conditions for that were ok for about half of the race. Througout the race, most people were seriously working the kite though. Basically an hour of continuously signing and looping
The center section was super tricky. I had one piont where I just got lofted for about 30 feet downwind, and another where my kite went from powered to just falling out of the sky. |

Pretty disappointing no women's group, or more participants recorded. How many women started and finished?
I was told the guy who was taking names said "no one cares after 20" and went kiteing. Anyone else hear this? Never been to a race with that attitude before. |

There were only 3 women competitors, if i remember correctly. 2 finished, i think.
Unfortunately we were extremely short staffed at the finish line because the other two finish line helpers (my girlfriend and little brother) were out running around picking up the keg, food, ice, cups, shwag to give away, etc from my girlfriends house and over half of the competitors had already finished by the time they got to the beach with the stuff for the BBQ. hopefully we'll get more volunteers next year
Thanks to everybody who did volunteer and made the event happen! |
