Searched the forum for this one but came up empty. I was at the coast last week and ran into a guy selling a small quiver of "Naish X series kites" as he called them. Not knowing anything about this line I figured I'd ask some of you guys who have flown them? Are they any good? When did they come out? Thanks!

Just take away the X and add "200" and that's what year they are. X2's and X4's were good in there time, the X3 was only good for jumping.

Still though pretty old high aspect kites, you could do better with newer gear.

I had a x-3 kite. Good jumper but it would shoot to the front of the window and hindenburg on you if you weren't careful.

Kites have come along way. Buy as new as you can.

Yeah they were X2's and X3's. He was asking only $100 for each kite with bar and lines so I figured that was a good deal. There's an ad in CL for some Gaastra kites that look good. Maybe those are better?

spend $200-300 and get a newer kite! 06 or newer. Look around they are cheap.

The difference in 03 to 06 is light years.

That is the problem..they normally are good prices..but not good kites.

Would you want bottom discount pricing on Lasik eye surgery? Or pay a bit more for a known good surgeon?

For me, I would not buy anything older than 2006 kite.
A. it is probably wore out if it is older than 2006
B. it will be limited in safety and technology

X-2
was my second quiver ,best of the x series imo
I enjoyed them a lot
Missed the X-3 but have flown them and they really shed the wind
the X-4 capture the wind and are a handful
cheap enough
but sooo old
there are better choices in the newer kites
