| I bought a used bar in good condition but has the standard one loop knot in one line. Is it better to undo(hot water soak and some chewing to loosen) or leave it regarding line integrity? Thanx |

| A knot in the line reduces line strength by about 50%. Chewing works fine out by the river, but cold water, a smooth faced hammer and a smooth anvil works and taste a lot better. |

| Put a drop of dish soap on the knot and leave it a glass of water for a few days as your finger nails grow out and pick at it , or use 2 pairs of tweezers. |

| I use a dull point splicing needle and slowly work it into the knot. It should loosen the knot enough to easily undo it then. |

What NAK just said. 
It works like a charm. Don't strike the knot like you're nailing in a nail in a wall or piece of wood. Move the point of impact around the knot. And if you don't have anvil, use a smooth faced river rock. Hit it 1/2 dozen times and inspect the knot and try to pull apart/loosen the knot, repeat until the knot is undone. |
