I've been winging for 3 years and I don't think I'm even intermediate yet. Sad

I bestow the title of:
"Intermediate Winger"

Congratulations!

How 'bout this:

* You are competent with a board volume that is your own weight in KGs or smaller

* You can switch feet jibe with 99% success

* You can heel/toe and toe/heel tack on both sides with 99% success (this one is going to take me a while)

How 'bout this:

* You are competent with a board volume that is your own weight +15 in KGs or smaller

* You can jibe without switching your feet with 49% success (on your strong side)

* You can foil all the way across the river and make it back to where you started with 99% success.

according to this criteria - there are 2 intermediate wingers in the gorge and the rest of us are beginners.

OK, you guys are making me feel better. Just seems like wherever I ride I see so many killing it on sinker boards, small foils, throwing big airs and tacks every which way.

Actually Mike, that's the thing, a lot of time they're not. Sure it's mostly the kids throwing big air acrobatics, but at lot of sites I feel like a yougin at 55. I guess it's one of the things I appreciate about the sport is once you have the technique it's not that pysical. I recall one recent session down at Leo Carrillo where the swell was kinda big and the wind was kinda sketch. This guy older and even fatter than me shows up all humble, self depricating, but proceeds to go out and just shred the waves throwing those "tacks every which way" to help stay up wind after all the down the lines.

I was inspired.
