Alright all you Gorge and SI riders, I'm updating my kites to some SLE's and can't decide if I should go with a 9m/11m or 9m/13m combo! I primarily ride at Hood, but assuming I become a more stable rider I would like to hit up SI more often!

I'm 6ft. tall and weigh approximately 200lbs. From the reading I've been doing, my guess is going to be the 9m/13m! Any thoughts would be appreciated! Very Happy

I vote 9-13 combo. You can always mix in a bigger board as well for tons of range.

My big kite is a 11m but I am bit weird and lighter... so I'd agree 13m.

I figured (given the range of SLE kites) that the 9/13 mixed with a couple boards would be able to handle anything the PNW had to throw at it!
...okay, probably not the 40mph gusts that some of you saw a few weeks ago! Laughing

9&11 are too close together for SLE's. Go 7-11 or 9-13. For your size I'd probably go 9-13 just like everyone else said.

I weigh 155 and use a 7m & 11m combo, so 9 and 13 sounds good for you

9-14....that's awesome! Can you imagine looking at a companies kite lineup and seeing 5,7,9,11,13,14,15! "What the heck is with the 14?'...."Yah know...we just wanted to be different!" Laughing

Hey, I'm not saying that there aren't 14's! ...just thought it would be funny if a company threw a 13,14,15 lineup!

However, this does bring up another question. Why would a manufacturer switch from odd numbered kite sizes to even in the upper end?

175lbs, I ride 9m and 13m waroo and love the spacing. Just got a 7m for the bigger days (and to ride the 9 at same time as gf on 7).

Another idea: if you're going with a 9m and 13m, you might think you should just use the 45cm bar. That's what we've been doing to save the $ on a 55cm bar. But I just tried a 9m with the 55cm bar last weekend at Lyle and it ROCKED. Two other guys there agreed. Unless you also get a 5/7m kite, go with the 55cm bar.

(I've assumed waroos for this discussion, since that's what I know, but same might apply to other SLE kites)

Hey jpeskin, that is a good callout! I was planning on using the 45cm bar for both and I hadnt really thought about using the 55cm. In doing this, did you have to make any adjustments in going from 9 to 13 or 13 to 9 ( back line knots, etc)?
