What about some type of industry, association sponsered gear buyback to get the old gear out of the market, tradins?

Didn't law enforvement have handgun program too try and get them off the street.

It's not just the person who buys the cheap gear at risk, we all are Shocked

I was thinking the very same thing two days ago.
What a great idea for SLINGSHOT to gain a greater market share.
2002 kite gets you $200 towards the purchase of a New Slingshot kite
2003 $300, 2004 $400. To me it Marketing 101. Get that old crap off the Used market and get new kites into the hands of both new riders and seasoned riders. This type of program would generate more stoke for thier products and help with branding/image.

The Gorge is one of many quality riding locations. I think it would be in SLINGSHOTS best interest to get as many riders on SLINGSHOT kites as possible.

He Shymac bring this to your boss and sell it too him......you just never know this could make you the new marketing director for SLINGSHOT.

It is a novel idea, especially when you consider that allot of people will associate an entire brand as being shitty b/c of negative experiences with one kite.

I still don't even really look at north kites b/c my old Toro sucked so bad. It would also go along way to establish the sense that a kite manufacturer is out there for the love of the sport and trying to help participants out. Even if you have the money for new gear, all the super duper hype and the price gouging gets OLD.

What you fail to realize is Manufacturing of Kiteboarding equipment and the R&D that goes along with it, it a business. It cost money to pay people to manufacture the product, to R&D the product, and to run a company.

You would work for free? I think not.

If you dont like the way the industry is operated/run then you can let them know about it by simply not buying thier product, or better yet quit kiteboarding altogether.

Where is this? And how can you justify that comment? The margins are so small.

How do you make a small fortune in windsurfing or kitesurfing? Start with a large one.

Pay the price or watch them go out of buisness. Make more money, then it is not a problem.

some of those older kites makes one wonder about the
R&D that went into it
An older Toro was the only kite I saw,
that Willy couldn't fly ,the harder he sined it the slower it went
and TORO wasn't the only ones that were pretty creepy
early on kites
Chevrolet sent me a couple hundred bucks for a 1977 pickup with the saddle tanks that are exposed and blow-up ,(big headlines)
