Is there a beginner spot near the coast? I have heard about a big lake near the ocean but far enough away that there are no waves.
And is this place blowing today? |

Jones can be a great beginner spot. Nice long beach and very un-crowded, especially early or anytime on a weekday. Go early, before the wind picks up. I went there on Tuesday with my 13 year old daughter. We went early, about 9. The wind was pretty light at first, so she practiced with the trainer. We set up her 7m and talked about the control bar and went through control and safety options one more time. as the wind picked up a bit more, we did her body dragging, before the water got choppy. Not a solo drag yet, but soon!
Kala had a great day and is stoked to go again!

If you go south past Elmer's Fish House then turn right into that little residential area there is a public bathroom with a few parking spots. You can also park on the street and walk down to the bathrooms.
Siletz is great on a low tide. Watch out for the big trees and a pole down wind of the inlet.
Great beg. spot! _________________ Hey, I'm being hahahahahrassed! |
