I just received notice from Riverkeepers that the Waterfront Park, Event Site and Frog beach had high readings.

People may go to the Columbia Gorge Riverkeeper’s online Swim Guide for more information and updates: https://www.theswimguide.org/beach/1568

This is a frequent occurrence whenever the water gets this high. Between the Spit going underwater and being covered in dog poop, and all the other things that might contribute, it is not a surprise.

Looks like they check the water quality on a weekly basis. So no kiting at ES until Friday 6/17?

It’s a warning not a ban.

Warning. - shit debris in water. Let’s get in and play!!!

They post warnings for a reason. When will people start to learn to critically think again. We should not need people to have resources post closures for everything in the world for us to be smart and live longer.

Please don’t go ask for medical resources when you get sick from the water. Stop expecting everyone to bail your ass out when you make personal decisions.

Don’t want to believe covid is real! Don’t go to the hospital when you get sick and refuse prior warnings!!

Help the gene pool get stronger again!!

After identifying unsanitary conditions, does Riverkeepers return to test more frequently until conditions are abated?

Heavy rains cause major problems with wastewater treatment plants, but I’m not seeing notices from HR or the Dalles water treatment departments. Heavy rains also cause storm water runoff to pick up more contaminants.

“Dilution is the Solution” is the mantra for most contamination problems. We’re getting a huge flush with the current levels.

I’m not saying there’s not a problem, just seeking more information.

There are about a dozen kiters out braving the e-coli at the Event Site now (June 12).

I think their test results take a few days to come back so by the time they post a warning you may have already been exposed in the water, and if you wait for the "all clear" you might miss a few good days. Someone should market a rapid test for E-Coli that you can do at the beach before you go out- and the government could mail them out for free.
