Did your chicken loop just come off your hook, or did it release ( the loop is open)?
If it just came off the hook, this can happen in gusty conditions by you sheeting in enough to pull the hook off the loop. It's easy to avoid big problems in this case by connecting your leash to both the flag line and the loop - if it does come off you won't flag.
If the loop came open, you either pushed the release or you didn't have it connected correctly in the first place |

Both.. the chicken loop first came out of the hook, and while it was flying away from me it also released and fell in the water. |
