Of all the high boost cars we've ever built, we've never actually grenaded a motor (beefed up trannies and $2500 axle sets are a different story). Headgaskets go once in awhile, but we tune fairly conservative for the most part so shit stays together. On average I'd say we get ~3 years on the motors before having to do anything major (replace pistons/rings, etc.)... when the leakdown starts showing anything ~10%.

Hey Mark,

Your wife looks a little pissed off that you made her stand there and hold the door at the Hooters while you took that photo.

I have thought long and hard about letting someone drive. It would be granted on a case by case bases. Oh yeah and $500 donation.
So far I am the only driver. She likes it that way!

i'll race the civic for $100 bucks....with my pickup......not gonna mess with the cobra though...when you have such a vehicle so evenly balanced, weighing within 100lbs on front and rear axles, and being rear-wheel drive...its more than just a horsepower/weight game! sorry civic, i think your barking up the wrong tree....

Sorry to get off topic, but anytime anyone comes off negatively to me about Hondas, I can't handle it... Nothing against you though, so take this lightly. I don't want to hear your CG balance crap, FWD versus RWD, but I'd love to see you take on an 600-800hp Civic/Integra with whatever you've got. These are 9 second (1/4 mile) in the ~160-170mph range, STREET CARS. That is full interior, 2400lbs minimum (no cutting whatsoever), stock glass, with a boosted 1.6-2.0L motor, and a parachute. Yes traction is a bitch on the street, but we don't have any problem putting these cars on slicks, just to race. I'll be done tuning my buddies new setup in the next month or so, so just let me know!

A few more vids:
This isn't very impressive, but it's of one of my buddies down south from back in like 2003. 1.8L, nonVTEC motor (which we don't use that often), with just pistons/rods (no sleeving) on ultra low boost. This is what it can do to a Viper (granted they're not that fast).

And here's what's going on nowadays... Matt Keller's IPS Integra (RSX motor with a GT42r turbo) versus a RWD car.

Then if you want somehing faster, we've still got our Hot Rod class Hondas (and Pro FWD beyond that). Still factory chassis, but with tube work from the front end to behind the driver seat. All upper shock locations must be factory, but we can run 28x10.5" slicks, make over 1000whp on methanol, with a 1900lbs weight limit. These cars are in the low 8 second to high 7 second range at 180-190mph. You're still not going to care, but you just haven't ridden in one...
