So it's been too friggin COLD to kite - good news is the mountain is amazing...1st WP

Got a pair of Glacier Gloves and now sending them back. Not sure what you all like about them, maybe the fuzzy liner? They are baggy and when you make a fist there is a LOT of material in the palm vs. the Mystic's

For the record the Mystic's pictured below are XL 3mm
and the Glacier Gloves are L 2mm

Hard to believe the GG can be so bulky - Not my fav...

Mystic 1

Glacier Glove 0

The Ion Precurved ones works best for me over the years. Cold East Pond winds in the 30's.

My experience with GG is they get chewed up way too quickly, hence my switch to NRS kayak gloves.

These look good. Maybe 2mm is better dexterity but still good?

I also tried the Glacier first, hated how baggy they were, and then got Mystic Marshall and loving it so far. Oh btw I have a pair of XXL Glacier Gloves that you can have for some karma points. Just FYI they fit more like XXXXL.

Gloves — grrrr
too big
too small
too thick
stinky
seams blow
hands cramp
no dexterity
SLIPPERY grip
Cant feel anything

BUT
After surfing 30 plus years in gloves
and kiting 22 years in cold water
I have found that super thin, but neoprene, mechanics gloves work so
good
Tried latex but its not the same
The new tech in neoprene mechanics gloves is impressive

You can still feel the water —which is nice—- but it cuts the “cold bite”

They are easy on and off — you actually can tie a knot in a string with them on— and they are surprisingly tough

The long cuff is essential
tuck the cuff under your suit and its like a drysuit glove

best part
Only $4 a pair at Home Depot or any Autozone/oreillys auto shop

Thx ScottN

Good tip - will ADD them to my test.

Full disclosure thinking they could be a good UNDER LAYER to put under the Mystic's in the coldest of the COLD months which are mostly behind us now. But love the idea of them being my secret 2nd layer - vs. last year wore my O'neil Psycho 1.5m under the Mystic 3m which worked but WAS a bit more bulk.

This may be just the right amount of warmth and dexterity to keep us KITING all year long. Except when there is over a foot of new snow on the mountain that is...

2 Pairs for $8 shipped to me - sounds good to me - thx again...

Cheers for Spring!

Mc

I've been using the NRS 3mm gloves. No warmer than any other 3mm, but far more flexible than any other 3mm glove I've tried.

I second Scotts suggestion.

I have been using industrial 'dish washing' gloves for years. They look very similar to those Scott suggested but are not insulated just thicker rubber. Cuts all the wind and provides some warmth. not ideal for really cold but good for most PNW days. A bit of insulation might be just the ticket.
