Hey guys... not really my place to be posting but as one of those behind the scenes of the event...

We wanted to get the top tier prizes locked in ASAP in order to press release the event to participants with some serious motivation.

We have contacted all of the manufactures in the sport about the event and expect participation at some level from all of them. We DO plan to reward the riders and fundraises, hopefully with kites and board to at least 3rd place.. if not even farthur.

We've got a while until the event, so don't give up hope as prizes are coming in all the time.

We've already gotten a commitment from Eclipse Kites and Skywalker Boards for a Kite/Board package as well. So keep up the fundraising and know that those that dedicate themselves to the good of this event will be rewarded in gear!

Well said Tekko-- we want this to be a great first event for KB4C so we are doing all we can to secure sweet packages for the fundraisers. We are also trying to get stuff for the Swag bags so everyone will walk away with something more than just the sense of having participated in something larger than the event Very Happy
Thanks for the hard work

Garret

So, here's the low down on prizes! Everyone walks away with something, no kidding.

We are getting such tremendous participation from manufacturers, that the top 3 finishers in both categories are going to all walk away with either a kite, a board, both, or the big kahuna package. We wanted that top prize to be huge, as an incentive for people to fundraise AND actively participate on the water too.

Here's what's on the Prize List so far...
Slingshot Package
Naish Package
Jimmy Lewis Mod III Kiteboard
Eclipse Kite, Skywalker kiteboard
North kiteboard
Gear from Best, Cabrinha.

What participants get...
Not only are ALL the top finishers going to walk away with new kiteboarding gear, but every fundraiser walks away with swag packs. Each fundraiser gets a t-shirt from the cancer organizations, a t-shirt from KB4C, and additional sponsor swag the day of the event.

Did I mention lunch?
Taco Del Mar in Hood River has donated Burrito lunch to all participants in the Kite Derby during the event!!

As you can see, this is a great event to be a participant!

Monkeyboy-- You should get married at the event. We can set up a canopy of kites for you to walk under, we have a DJ and beer-- what more do you need? We can even throw sand at you while you walk under the canopy of kites. Save some money that you can donate!!!

WOW! I just went over the top on my goal... maybe I should have set this higher?
I hope there's a "seniors" division... because I haven't got a prayer with these old knees of my for going 10 hours straight. And I sure as heck haven't learned to kiteloop. Oh Well.... schwag bag.

It's all here:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The John Wayne Cancer Foundation
The National Childhood Cancer Foundation

These links no longer show the standings?

I did not sign up to 'race' - but I would like to help. Any volunteers needed?
